A postcard and an autographed photo

John Lennon's autograph on a postcard with the inscription "War is over!" is not just a memoir, but a kind of document of the decade, telling about one of the most striking artistic actions of the 1960s and testifying to the urgent request of the American population in those years - the demand for the end of the Vietnam War, which at that time had been going on for 13 years.

On March 20, 1969, after playing a chamber wedding in Gibraltar, the famous musician and Japanese avant-garde artist Yoko Ono decided not to celebrate their honeymoon in a classical performance, but "to invite world peace to their third bed."

They summoned journalists from various international publications to their presidential suite at the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam.

At their request, all the furniture was taken out of the room, except for the double bed, and posters painted by John and Yoko were hung on the walls.

Here's what the perpetrators of the event themselves said about it in the Anthology collection: "You should have seen the faces of these reporters and photojournalists who rushed to our room! Because, whatever it was, people had what they thought they would see in their heads. And when they got into the room, their faces fell. We were lying in bed like two angels surrounded by flowers with thoughts of peace and love."

It is noteworthy that this presidential suite is currently positioned as the "John and Yoko Suite" - it is decorated with memorabilia and costs $ 2,400 per night.

No less interesting is the famous photo of the couple signed by Yoko Ono, taken by star photographer Annie Leibovitz, who had to shoot the musician for the cover of Rolling Stone. After several attempts to make a single portrait (what the magazine was waiting for), the musician insisted on a joint photo with his wife. Leibovitz asked John to take off his clothes and cuddle up to Yoko Ono.

This shot, shot by Leibovitz, was the last professional shot of the musician. Five hours later, Lennon was killed by his fan.
