One legend is connected with the birth of Alexander: one night, when a thunderstorm was raging, a lightning arrow struck into the womb of the Olympics, and after a while she had a son, whom her mother named Alexander. The priests said that he was the son of God and that his fame would spread all over the earth.
His teacher was the great man of that time, Aristotle. Alexander appreciated and respected philosophers, and was interested in Greek literature. Alexander's ambition was boundless. Indifferent to wealth, he was fiercely jealous of his father's fame and dreamed of brilliant exploits.
Alexander grew up to be a great commander. At the age of 20, he became king of Macedonia. 12 years later, Alexander the Great created a huge empire that stretched from the Istrian River in Europe to the Ganges River in India. The name of Alexander the Great symbolizes military and organizational talent, courage, and willpower.
The obverse of the coin depicts the profile of Alexander and the inscription in Latin Victoria – victory. On the reverse there is an owl - a symbol of wisdom, in its paws the owl holds a vessel of wisdom. In Latin, Sophia is wisdom, and Virtus is dignity.
