On February 23, the whole country celebrates Defender of the Fatherland Day, a celebration of courage, valor and devotion to the Motherland. This is the day when we honor those who stand guard over our peace and tranquility, who are ready to defend our country at any moment.
The history of this holiday goes back to the beginning of the 20th century. Initially, on February 23, 1918, the Red Army won its first victories over the German forces. Subsequently, this day was celebrated as the Day of the Red Army, and then the Day of the Soviet Army and Navy. After the collapse of the USSR, the holiday was renamed Defender of the Fatherland Day, while retaining its deep meaning – honoring all those who served and are serving in the Armed Forces, as well as all men who are the support and protection for their families and loved ones.
