Metallurgist's Day is a celebration of strong–minded people whose profession requires not only the highest skill, but also genuine courage. Established by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1957, it is celebrated every third Sunday in July. The choice of date is no coincidence: in the height of summer, metallurgical enterprises operate with maximum workload. This holiday became a tribute to people who devoted their lives to one of the most difficult and responsible crafts — the birth of metal, without which no aspect of modern life is possible.

Metallurgy is more than science and production. This is a character tempered by the temperature of melting furnaces, precision brought to art, and great dedication to his work. Thanks to metallurgists, bridges and skyscrapers, ships and airplanes, cars and sculptures are born – they give dreams shape, weight and power. This work requires rigorous discipline, precise knowledge and inexhaustible energy, because metal is second only to the confident and skilled.

Today we honor people whose craft requires not only physical effort, but also firmness of character, engineering precision, and strategic thinking. Their work remains invisible to the layman, but it is he who makes the work of factories, construction sites, and highways possible. Behind him is confidence in the future, in the strength of the foundation on which modern society has been built.
