Leather-bound gift book "The Code of Honor of a Russian officer"
In the Russian Empire, the title "Russian officer" was not just a designation of professional or social affiliation. The title of "officer" meant belonging to a special caste of people for whom honor and dignity were more precious than life. They fought for honor, and they died for it.
Russian Russian Captain Valentin Kulchitsky wrote "Advice to a Young Officer" during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905, which, in fact, became the code of honor of a Russian officer. The book also includes: "The Dueling Code" by V. Durasov, equally fair for both civilians and military, and the story of A.S. Pushkin "Shot", as the most vivid illustration of both officer honor and dueling history. For a duel is "the last argument for preserving honor."
