It was also the first frigate to have state insignia – the coat of arms and the flag of the Moscow state. This was the will of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich Romanov, nicknamed the Quietest. The warship was needed to secure the Volga Silk Road and cover merchant caravans in the Khvalyn Sea, as the Caspian was then called. Dutch specialists were invited for the construction.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The image of the eagle as the state emblem of Russia was sewn onto the ship's flags, as well as a double-headed eagle on the stern of the ship. The ship stayed in Astrakhan for almost ten months. In 1670, the Eagle was captured by Stepan Razin's rebellious Cossacks.
