About this product
Art.: 021-556

In honor of the football championship, Altmaster has prepared a landmark gift — a sculpture of the legend of Russian football Lev Ivanovich Yashin. He is generally recognized as the best goalkeeper of the 20th century on a global scale and the only goalkeeper in history to receive the Golden Ball. He became a legend of world sports, primarily because he was the discoverer of such a style of goalkeeping as playing on the outs and hitting the ball over the crossbar of the goal. The goalkeeper applied innovative methods of playing in the penalty area, used not only his hands, as was customary for goalkeepers of that time, but also actively played with his feet. The coaches of Dynamo and the USSR national team often had to listen to dissatisfied statements from the Ministry of Sports, whose leaders simply could not understand why Yashin did not play "the old-fashioned way" and called his manner a "circus". All over the world, the Russian goalkeeper was called a "Black Panther" for his flexibility, and a "Black Spider" for his instant movement along the goal frame. The nickname was so because of the black goalkeeper's jersey, which Lev Ivanovich invariably wore.
