Mammoth tusk composition "Magnificent City"

The mammoth tusk composition "Magnificent City" is a large—scale work of Cantonese carving, in which the natural arc of a single tusk is transformed into a panoramic landscape of the ancient East. A multi-layered scene is unfolded on the curved surface: palace pavilions, towers and bridges hidden among flowering trees, thin cloud ribbons smoothly framing the architecture. The milky cream shade of the material highlights the elegance of the lines and enhances the feeling of depth.

The master masterfully uses a complex technique of multi-level carving. Delicate elements are combined with dense relief areas, creating the effect of lightness and spatial perspective. The miniature buildings and decorative details are made with jewelry precision: every roof, every curve of the wall, every ornament is hand-carved. The light, gliding over the surface, enlivens the composition, revealing the richness of texture and the finest elaboration.

The dark carved stand enhances the contrast and gives the work a statuesque finish. The Magnificent City is not just a decorative object, but an artistic allegory of prosperity, harmony and cultural flourishing. It is a museum-level collector's item designed for interiors where rare materials, traditions of oriental craftsmanship and genuine artistic complexity of execution are appreciated.
