"The Century of the Way, the Lantern Festival" is a work created to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party. The composition symbolizes the prosperity of the country and the peaceful, prosperous life of the people under the light of the party.
The work is made from a mammoth tusk, an ancient natural material that has been formed over thousands of years and has a special historical value. A unique lantern-themed artwork has been created using traditional Cantonese bone carving techniques. The composition is based on a translucent, elegant lantern with a carved image of a mother and child, decorated with the finest ornaments.
The plot takes place in the mythical country of Penglai: magical children surround the Southern Pole Immortal (Shouxin), who embodies longevity. One hundred cheerful figures with different facial expressions create a festive atmosphere. Flowers bloom all around, trees grow thickly, favorable clouds swirl, cranes soar, pavilions and pagodas rise. The whole composition conveys a sense of harmony, joy and continuous renewal.
