Кантонский шар из слоновой кости, известный также как «призрачный шар», — один из наиболее характерных видов гуанчжоуской резьбы, сформировавшийся ещё в эпоху династии Мин. Его уникальность заключается в том, что цельный фрагмент кости выдалбливается в многослойную сферу с переплетающимися ажурными оболочками. Каждый слой тонко проработан собственным сквозным орнаментом и может свободно вращаться внутри последующего, создавая впечатление лёгкости и почти невесомой прозрачности.

Кантонский шар считается вершиной мастерства местной школы и важной частью национального нематериального культурного наследия Китая. В современных работах нередко используется цельный бивень мамонта, позволяющий создавать сложные многослойные структуры с филигранной точностью.
