The artist Danshin from the village of Fedoskino hardly meant this expression when he depicted a family of four dogs on the lid of a flat 12-centimeter box resembling a cigarette case. Nevertheless, the fact remains: a mother with three puppies is located on a scattering of shiny objects resembling gold coins. The artist managed to depict dogs very realistically, but the background looks very futuristic: the dogs have chosen an ancient castle, and live in a room with a high window, in which a multicolored stained glass window is inserted. The unusual combination of elements does not spoil the miniature: a stone wall and a stained glass window depicting the sun only emphasize the beauty of purebred puppies and their caring mother. Fedoskinsky miniature is an internationally recognized folk craft, a type of Russian lacquer miniature painting with oil paints on papier—mache, which developed at the end of the XVIII century in the village of Fedoskino near Moscow. All products of the Fedoskino factory are unique creative works of the highest level of complexity, which has no analogues in the world. The style, technology and skill of the Fedoskinsky artists' writing are so high that they allow detailed miniatures to be made on products less than 1 centimeter. It takes an average of 30-40 days to manufacture a papier-mache product at the Fedoskino factory, in conditions of well—established semi-mechanized production. The period of training in basic art takes about 10 years, and then the talent of each artist is developed over decades. In the 1930s and 1950s, Fedoskin's artists were mainly engaged in copying easel paintings. A fundamentally new stage in the history of Fedoskinsky miniature painting was marked by the growth of the author's beginning and fell at the end of the 1950s. The artists created original author's works in which they creatively reinterpreted the traditions of the Fedoskino miniature.
