Backgammon made of stone "Souvenir"
The geometric mirror pattern on the outer and inner sides of the backgammon is provided by using solid stone plates that are mirrored (the "bookmatch" stone-cutting technique) and open like a book so that the pattern is reflected. The items on the playing field, as well as the chips, are made of kaholong (Kalmykia) and black jade (Buryatia, Khamarkhudinskoye deposit). The chip storage cells are made of Spanish cedar.
Backgammon is also equipped with dice (10 mm face) made of natural mammoth tusk. A distinctive feature is the seamless stone plate inlay technique, which makes the base of black basalt invisible (99% of backgammon in the world has a visible base).
The souvenir is completed with a state certificate-the conclusion of the Russian Academy of Sciences (A.E. Fersman Mineralogical Museum), confirming the geological origin of the minerals and rocks used in backgammon.
