"If everyone was smart, there would be so much intelligence in the world that every second person would become a complete idiot" - the delightful aphorism of Yaroslav Hasek (1883-1923), a writer with the rounded face of an innocent baby in all the photographs, which was the catch. Being a restless wanderer, a drinker and an adventurer, and having picked up his pen on feuilletons in Czech periodicals, he composed the most anti-war book in world literature.
He managed to transform his Seamstress from an exemplary orderly into an ideal saboteur, by bringing to the point of absurdity unquestioning obedience to the demands of the powerful. And the decrepit Austro-Hungarian Empire with its German "ordung" was more suitable than any other for this kind of provocation "in the blue eye" and ridicule, deadly to empires and bureaucratic utopias. But that didn't add to the peace in the world. And even in the repeatedly changed homeland of the world-famous Hasek and Schweik, monuments to both of them began to appear only a century later in the 21st century.
