The work of Nikolai Alexandrovich Leikin, a prominent Russian humorist, publisher of the magazine "Fragments", a writer whom Chekhov called his literary "godfather", is undeservedly forgotten today. Meanwhile, in the literary environment of the Chekhov era, Leikin rightfully belonged to one of the important places. The young Chekhov, by his own admission, read his works "zealously" and "choking" with pleasure. In Soviet times, Leikin's works were practically not reprinted.
