A satirical book by Ambrose Bierce, published in 1911. The book is a collection of aphorisms about different aspects of human activity. The book was written in 1906 and released under the title "The Cynic's Lexicon", but was republished in 1911 under a new title. Modern editions include definitions that were previously excluded for one reason or another.
American journalist Ambrose Bierce has written a dictionary divided into quotations called "The Cynic's Lexicon". There is really nothing related to Satan there, in fact – these are ridiculous explanations of completely ordinary words. The block is sewn by hand, on cords (French binding), the edges are painted and engraved by hand. The flyleaf is made of hand-dyed marble paper; a border ornament is rolled along the perimeter. The binding is made of natural, aged leather, with artistic, fancy embossing, including manual. A shaped case with leather edging was made for the book. Exclusive binding design.

The result was the book "Lunyu" — "Sayings", which to this day embodies the inviolability of the foundations of the Celestial Empire and the worldview of its subjects. The knowledge of "Lunyu" by heart has been a mandatory requirement of Chinese classical education for all centuries.
