The Journey of Tsarevich Nicholas (the future Emperor Nicholas II) The journey to the East, which lasted from October 23, 1890 to August 4, 1891 and completed the 13-year educational course of the future Russian Emperor, was not only a unique event for Russian life at the end of the nineteenth century, but also the largest military and diplomatic action of Emperor Alexander III. During this trip, personal diplomatic ties were established with the ruling dynasties in both the West and the East. The august traveler, getting to Vladivostok by sea, visited Egypt, India, Siam, China, and Japan."
