A large group of historians, experts and veterans of the service found and picked up the main documents of the history of the formidable organization – V.C.K., which came to the defense of a young state born on the ruins of the Russian Empire a hundred years ago. Many of these documents and photographs have been published for the first time. The All-Russian Emergency Commission for Combating Counterrevolution and Sabotage worked for only four years: from December 20 (new style) 1917 to the autumn of 1921. And these were the most terrible years of the revolution and the Civil War in Russia. V.C.K. saved and protected the new state from numerous internal and external enemies. Over the hundred years of its history, Russian counterintelligence has changed its name more than once, but even today, young graduates of FSB institutes and academies and honored veterans proudly call themselves "Chekists". The history of V.C.K. is contradictory, as is the whole history of mankind in general. There are glorious heroic pages in it, and difficult, tragic episodes. This book will help you better understand the conditions under which the first special service of the new Russia had to build and protect the state.
