About this product
"The festivities near Novinsky, as now, began from Kudrinskaya Square. At the beginning of the festivities, there was an elegant wooden coffee shop, which was kept by the famous innkeeper S.I. Pechkin at that time. This coffee shop was constantly packed with the most select society and notorious dandy revellers during the whole festivities. Music, gypsies filled the air, and daring young people threw money like chips, and champagne flowed like a river."
The publication tells the story of Russian holidays in a fascinating way. The book contains six chapters: Christmas; New Years; New Year's editions or almanacs; Epiphany; Maslenitsa; celebration of Maslenitsa in the capitals of Moscow and St. Petersburg. In addition to describing Russian and "overseas" amusements, small colorful household details, palace ceremonies, church customs, the reader will also find fascinating stories related to the names of Peter the Great, Elizabeth Petrovna, Anna Ioannovna, Catherine the Second.
