The six-volume work "The History of the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union 1941-1945" was developed by a team of researchers from the Department of the History of the Great Patriotic War of the Institute of Marxism-Leninism under the Central Committee of the CPSU (head of the Department Boltin E. A., deputy head of the Department Telpukhovsky B. S.) based on: documentary materials stored in the central party and state, departmental and local archives of the USSR; materials from the archives of the German Democratic Republic, the Polish People's Republic, the Czechoslovak Republic, the People's Republic of Bulgaria, the Romanian People's Republic, the Hungarian People's Republic; published documents of the USSR and other countries, as well as Soviet and foreign scientific and historical literature. There are a large number of maps in the books that illustrate the advance of the troops, and the orders and medals of the USSR are presented. Contents Volume One.
