Lieutenant General Nikolai Kutepov, head of the Imperial Hunting Farm, began working on the history of Russian hunting in 1891 at the request of Emperor Alexander III.
The first volume was released only five years later. In total, it took more than 20 years to complete the work of the historian and prominent Russian artists of that time. Among them are Vasnetsov, Ryabushkin, Repin, Lancere, Serov and many others.
The four volumes of the "Grand Ducal, Royal and Imperial Hunt in Russia" are a unique example of book art that has been highly appreciated at Russian and international exhibitions of printing.
Execution: handmade solid leather binding, decorated with an illustrated insert made of non-ferrous metal, the cover is two-tiered, the text of the book is printed on coated paper and complemented with color illustrations, the cut is decorated with an artistic image, a lace made of silk ribbon, a one-piece flyleaf made of designer paper, a leather case, inspired by the design of the book.
