After the baptism, according to tradition, the image of a Guardian Angel is hung over the baby's crib. He is invisibly present with a person throughout his life, his task is to contribute to the salvation of the ward's soul. Guardian angels guide Christians in faith and piety, guard their souls and bodies, intercede for them during their earthly lives, pray to God for them, and finally, after death, lead their souls to eternity.
According to the teachings of the Orthodox Church, a person cannot know the personal name of a particular guardian angel, since he is given to man by God and is invisible to people. Therefore, the image of the Guardian Angel is a universal gift for all occasions of a Christian's life: birthday, epiphany (christening), Angel's Day (name day), anniversary, Christmas, Easter, etc.
