It is extracted laboriously, riskily and expensively, but at the same time, a precious black-and–blue material with tints of gray and silver streaks has no analogues - it is beautiful and noble amazingly!

The name oak is due to the presence of special tannins in the tree juices, thanks to which the wood, trapped in an airless space under the water column, darkens and persists for thousands of years. The age of the bog oak was determined in a special laboratory of the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

This process takes at least a month without drying the wood. After that, the board goes to an artist who has experience in painting iconostases and restoring icons. 96-grade gold leaf is applied to the board, the painting is done with tempera paints mixed with natural egg yolk and painted with gold leaf. The finished product is covered with 6-8 layers of varnish and, after drying, is manually sanded to avoid glare. To comply with church canons, canonical images of the Russian Orthodox Church are used as samples.
