For a long time, the image could not be found, until they found the icon on the bell tower of the temple, where they walked on it like on a board, not noticing the holy image on the reverse side. After the image was cleaned of years of dirt, a prayer service was served in front of it and the peasant received relief from the disease. Thus, the "Seven-arrow" icon became known as miraculous, and numerous pilgrims began to flock to it. After some time, the image was forgotten again, until in 1830 a cholera epidemic broke out in the Vologda province. A procession was made with the "Seven-Arrow" icon, and soon the epidemic stopped. It is believed that the "Seven-arrow" icon was created no earlier than the XVIII century, however, it can be assumed that it was a list from an older image. Her iconography resembles another image known as "Softening of Evil Hearts," but it has some differences.: arrows are depicted instead of swords, and their location is also different. Both iconographic images go back to the prophecy of the righteous Simeon the God-receiver, mentioned in the Gospel of Luke. According to this prediction, the Mother of God had to endure such suffering that, like a weapon, would pierce her soul. The number of arrows or swords depicted is not accidental, since the number seven has its own symbolism in Christianity, meaning the fullness of something (on the icon of the Virgin it is the fullness of suffering). In front of the "Seven-arrow" icon, it is customary to pray for reconciliation of the warring parties and softening of the cruel heart. The celebration of the Semistrelnaya icon takes place on August 26 in a new style.
