One of the Old Testament types that pointed to the Mother of God was the burning bush, the bush that Moses saw burning in the fire, but not burned down. This bush marked the immaculate conception of the Mother of God of Christ by the Holy Spirit. After becoming a Mother, She remained a Virgin: a Virgin before Christmas, a Virgin at Christmas and a Virgin after Christmas.
The icon of the Mother of God, the Burning Bush, has long been considered a defender against fires, lightning, any disasters and natural disasters, as well as other incidents related to lightning and fire. It is not surprising that firefighters consider this image of the Virgin to be their patroness.
The image on the linden icon board is printed with a direct stamp on the levkas and varnished. The halos are gilded with gold leaf. The aging effect is applied — cracks, patina.
