История Владимирской иконы Божией Матери – насчитывает более двух тысяч лет. По преданию, икона была написана евангелистом Лукой на доске от стола, за которым трапезничал Спаситель с Пречистой Матерью и праведным Иосифом. В 1131 году икона была передана в дар великому князю Мстиславу из Византии. Позднее икону Богородицы перенесли во Владимир, где она стала покровительницей города. Именно тогда за ней закрепилось название «Владимирская». Считается, что икона Божьей Матери неоднократно спасала Русь в моменты опасности и испытаний, помогая в тяжелейших ситуациях своей заботой и покровительством.

Икона изображает Богоматерь, ласково прижимающую к себе Младенца Иисуса. От других икон данного типа Владимирская икона отличается тем, что левая ножка младенца согнута по-особому и нам видна ее ступня. Образ Пресвятой Богородицы передаёт глубокие материнские чувства, близость и любовь между Матерью и Сыном, символизируя заботу Богородицы о всех верующих.
