The pointers consisted of a decorated handle, a rod and a tip in the shape of a right hand with an outstretched index finger. The earliest surviving pointers date back to the 16th century. Pointers were an important ritual item, so they were made of noble materials and richly decorated. Silver, expensive woods, ivory, as well as precious and semi-precious stones, pearls and corals were used to make pointers. When creating ritual pointers, the masters used all known jewelry techniques: casting, embossing, stamping, filigree, engraving. Sometimes a ring was depicted on the pointing finger.
