Monomakh's Hat

The Monomakh hat is the main royal hat of the grand dukes and tsars, a symbol of autocracy in Russia. It is one of the oldest regalia of the Armory of the Moscow Kremlin. Externally, it is a golden headdress with a sable edge, decorated with pearls and precious stones, crowned with a cross. In Russia, the hemispherical shape of a cap with a fringe symbolized the sky and the sun.
