David of Sasun is the main character of the Armenian national epic "The Heroes of Sasun", who expelled the Arab and Egyptian invaders from Armenia. As an oral history, the legend dates back to the 8th century. In 2012, the epic "David of Sasun" was included in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mankind. Currently, there is an academic edition of fifty versions of the epic, recorded in various regions of Armenia. The most famous embodiment of the image of David in fine art is the bronze sculpture by E. Kochar on the square in Yerevan (1959). The 1922 work "David of Sasun" by the artist A. Kojoyan (paper, watercolor), made in the form of a concentric composition, is also widely known.
