Six years after the launch of the Starfleet Machine, the first watch created jointly by MB&F and L'Epée 1839, a new expedition begins. The space station returns in 2020 in a scaled-down version and painted in bright colors, accompanied by a fleet of three small spaceships exploring the universe; it rightfully bears the name of the Starfleet Explorer.
The Starfleet Explorer, created by L'Epée 1839 and developed in collaboration with MB&F, is an intergalactic spaceship with a desktop clock. More compact, but no less efficient, Starfleet Explorer is now equipped with three small spaceships that rotate around the heart of the mechanism at a rate of one full revolution every five minutes, as if they are exploring the universe, which at the same time gives inspiration to the name Starfleet Explorer.
Not only does it display hours and minutes, but it also has an animation in which three spacecraft make a five-minute orbit around the station. The highly visible manufacturing mechanism of excellent finish boasts an exceptional eight-day power reserve. The mechanism can be wound manually using a two-way key, which serves both to wind the mechanism and to set the time.
The hours and minutes are indicated using two discs, an aperture and a bright arrow. In particular, the minutes on the rotating radar antenna are read when they appear in the center of a fixed metal hole, hand-satined and anodized, which follows the curved contours of the dome.
The clock disk located just below remains stationary. The hour hand, also satin-finished and anodized, indicates the hour by rotating in its place and making a complete revolution around the disk in 12 hours.
Starfleet Explorer also has a significantly original new element in the form of three tiny spaceships lined up along the same axis at regular intervals and placed inside the real Starfleet mechanism, the heart of the mechanism around which they rotate at a speed of one full. Turn every five minutes: space exploration under the guidance of a carrier ship.
