From the very beginning of its existence, mantel clocks have been the privilege of the "powerful of this world" - kings, clergy, the highest aristocracy. Nowadays, too, not everyone can afford the luxury of buying a mantel clock.

The watch case is made of alabaster, a natural fine-grained gypsum mineral. Outwardly similar to a stone, it is softer and more transparent than the latter. Due to its qualities, alabaster is an indispensable material in decorative art. Even in ancient Egypt, it was used to make vessels for storing incense oils. The case of the watch is elaborately decorated with a relief ornament made of bronze.
