Erwin Sattler is the oldest German manufactory. She gained popularity and fame thanks to her ultra-precise watches and unique watch accessories. It can be said that the history of the watch manufactory began in 1902, when Heinrich Sattler decided to purchase a new watch. After a long search, he realized that he did not like anything offered in the stores. And then he created his own watch. On March 4, 1903, he received an imperial patent for a clockwork with his own original perpetual calendar module. This was the beginning of the Sattler watch dynasty.
Heinrich's grandson Erwin Sattler inherited the family passion for watchmaking. He dreamed of producing his own products combining high-quality manual work and advanced technical solutions. In 1958, he founded his own watch company, Erwin Sattler Munchen.
In the 80s, the company was run by Stephanie Sattler-Rick, Erwin's daughter. At the same time, the talented watchmaker Richard Muller joined the family business. Erwin Sattler retired in 2002.
The ever-increasing quality of the watch required new production standards. For this purpose, a new main office building was built in Graefelfing (a suburb of Munich). The facade of the Erwin Sattler manufactory is decorated with an exact replica of the classic Erwin Sattler Classica Secunda 1995 pendulum clock with a height of 12 meters. They are the largest pendulum clocks in the world!
The Erwin Sattler Research and Development Department is constantly looking for new ways to improve the accuracy of the clock. Every day, scientists explore the experience and discoveries of watchmakers of the past, as well as the achievements of technical thought of the new millennium. Before the new development becomes part of the mechanism, it has been tested on prototypes for a long time. The department has also created a unique laboratory that monitors the changes taking place with pendulums in various conditions. Richard Muller, co-owner and head of the technical department of Erwin Sattler, allocates large funds for the development of the research department.
Every day, employees of the Erwin Sattler manufactory create watches that will become a family heirloom in the future and will be passed down from generation to generation. All components of the Erwin Sattler watch are manufactured under strict control. In addition, the entire process of creating the mechanism is controlled by Richard Muller himself. All parts of the Erwin Sattler mechanisms are made by hand. The production process of watch products is honed to the smallest detail. The mechanisms of Erwin Sattler are highly complex. For example, the mechanism of one jewelry box consists of more than four hundred parts, and it can take 2 years to create a watch masterpiece.
The perfect watch mechanisms are enclosed in luxurious cases made of the best varieties of wood. It is noteworthy that at least 90% of the work on the creation of watches is carried out within the walls of its own factory. All Erwin Sattler products are available in strictly limited editions.
