The creators of the franchise intended to shoot some scenes of Hogwarts in Canterbury Cathedral, but due to religious beliefs, the Dean of Canterbury was forced to refuse. The Bodleian Library and the dining hall of Christ Church College at Oxford University, Durham Cathedral, Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, and others were also used to recreate Hogwarts on the set.
