Yuri Nikulin is an iconic figure in the history of Soviet and Russian art, who has left a deep mark on both the circus and the cinematic genre. Nikulin starred in such cult films as "The Diamond Hand", "Operation Y" and "12 Chairs", which became classics of Soviet cinema. Yuri Nikulin's name is included in the list of "Great Comedians of the World" of the Oxford Encyclopedia of Cinema, which highlights his contribution to world culture. For more than two decades, Nikulin shone in the circus as a clown, creating performances that were included in the golden fund of circus art. In 1982, he became the director of the Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, turning it into one of the main centers of circus art in the country, and remained its artistic director until the end of his life.
