Andy Serkis is a British actor and film director. Winner of the BAFTA Award (2020) for outstanding contribution to British cinema. He is also a nominee for the Golden Globe (2007) and Emmy (2009) awards.

The actor has played more than 30 roles in films and on television. He is known primarily for the roles of Gollum in the epic "The Lord of the Rings" and the primate Caesar in the film "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and its sequels, where his movements and voice were used to create a computer character using motion capture technology. His work served as a starting point for heated debates about where the line between acting and computer graphics lies. Despite the statements of some critics that Serkis deserves an Oscar for the role of Gollum, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts decided that he did not fit the criteria, since the actor had to be personally present on the screen.
