Louis de Funes is a French film actor, film director and screenwriter of Spanish origin, one of the greatest comedians of world cinema.
De Funes joined the cinema at the age of 30, having previously tried many professions: he worked as a furrier (made fur), a draftsman, a messenger, decorated shop windows, delivered milk in the morning, was a pianist at the Pigalle restaurant, where he performed jazz music, an accountant, a graphic designer, performed in cabarets, music halls and on the radio.
The first film from the series about the adventures of the provincial gendarme Cruchot "The Gendarme of Saint-Tropez" (1964) and the trilogy about Fantomas brought him great popularity: "Fantomas" (1964), "Fantomas raged" (1965) and "Fantomas against Scotland Yard" (1967).
