Autographed photo of actress Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman is an American actress. She was born into the family of a professor at Columbia University, a former Buddhist monk specializing in Eastern religions. It was he who suggested a unique name from Indian mythology for his daughter, meaning "bestowing bliss."

The film "Pulp Fiction" contains one of the brightest improvisations created by Thurman in the world of cinema. The iconic dance scene of Mia Wallace and Vincent Vega in a restaurant could have looked completely different, but the dance icon was born against the rules. Uma Thurman was not a professional dancer. Quentin Tarantino wanted to choreograph the famous twist dance. However, Uma, feeling the character of her heroine - charismatic, magnetic and a bit "cosmic" - insisted on improvisation. The twist turned out to be so natural, "homey" and slightly careless that it eventually turned into a real cultural phenomenon.
