The rosewood and boxwood chess pieces included in this set owe their design, principle of operation and style to the English master, who created chess at the beginning of the XIX century somewhat resembling the Russian toy "Roly-Poly". The set is based on chess, the board of which is made of solid oak.
The figures are hand-carved, the light ones are made of boxwood, and the dark ones are made of rosewood. A weighting device is installed at the base of each figure, so that the figure is weighty and lies pleasantly in the player's hand. In addition, all shapes return to their original state when they deviate from the vertical position. The height of the king in this set is 2.60 inches (about 6.5 cm).
Inside the board there are soft beds for each piece. The inner side of the playing field is covered with a flock, which protects the pieces and the board from mutual mechanical influences.
