The story says that Peter was a Murom prince who married a simple girl Fevronia. With her love, she cured his body of terrible ulcers twice, which earned her the deepest devotion and love in return. The Murom boyars did not accept Fevronia, in response to which Peter renounced the throne, after which terrible misfortunes struck the city. The boyars had to ask Peter and Fevronia to return to rule, and only after that peace reigned on the Murom land for a long time.
