Personal diary with an autograph
Pyotr Stolypin is known primarily as a reformer and statesman who played a significant role in suppressing the revolution of 1905-1907. In April 1906, Emperor Nicholas II offered Stolypin the post of Minister of the Interior of Russia. Soon after, the government was dissolved along with the First State Duma, and Stolypin was appointed chairman of the Council of Ministers.
During his speeches to the deputies of the State Duma, Stolypin's oratorical abilities manifested themselves. His phrases "You won't intimidate!", "Calm down first, then reform" and "They need great upheavals, we need a great Russia" became famous.
