Eduard Kern is a arborist and arborist, a specialist in applied botany and agricultural land reclamation.
In the book "Essays on Forestry", Kern describes in detail his scientific research and practical experience in the field of forestry, examines various issues related to forests, such as their biology, ecology, structure and dynamics. The author also discusses issues of forest management, including the problems of logging, transportation, storage and processing of wood, touches on the topics of forestry economics, the wood market, pricing and taxation.
Eduard Kern was the director of the Imperial Forestry Institute and taught a course in forest management. He was the chairman of the permanent forestry and cultural commission at the Forestry Department, as well as a professor at the Petrovsky Academy, and for some time was the dean of the forestry Faculty. In total, he left behind 235 scientific papers. From 1925 until the end of his life, Eduard Kern worked in the Department of New Crops at the All-Union Institute of Applied Botany and New Crops (now the All-Russian Institute of Plant Breeding).
