Flower vase "Ibis"

The ibis is a sacred, revered bird in ancient Egypt. The ibis was a symbol of Thoth, the god of wisdom and writing, who was often worshipped in the form of Thoth the Ibis. The elongated shape of the ibis's beak, and the way the ibis dips it into the swamp, reminded the Egyptians of the scribes' use of kalam, a thin reed brush for writing on papyrus. He was depicted with the head of an ibis and the same bird served as a hieroglyphic sign of his name. Numerous ibises were kept in the temple of Thoth; the corpses of the ibises were embalmed. In ancient Egypt, ibises were very numerous and freely found even in cities. Nowadays they are extremely rare in Egypt, but south of Khartoum they are quite numerous. An Ibis vase will not only be a wonderful interior decoration, but will also become a symbol of wisdom and eternity.
