Alexander Romanovich Belyaev (1884— 1942) was a gifted and inquisitive son of a priest, was fond of adventure literature and flying, flew airplanes of one of the first designs. After graduating from the theological seminary, he did not become a priest, on the contrary, he came out of there a convinced atheist. He loved painting, music, theater, played in amateur performances, studied photography, studied technique. He entered the law Lyceum in Yaroslavl and at the same time studied violin at the conservatory. To earn money for his studies, he played in a circus orchestra, painted theater sets, and studied journalism. He acted as a music critic, theater reviewer, and worked as a criminal investigation inspector. He never stopped dreaming of distant countries and, having saved up money, in 1913 traveled to Italy, France, and Switzerland.
In Moscow in 1924, Belyaev began serious literary activity. He publishes science fiction stories, novellas in the magazines "Around the World", "Knowledge is Power", "World Pathfinder" and other publications. In 1924, he published the story "Professor Dowell's Head", in Moscow he wrote the novels "Island of Lost Ships", "The Last Man from Atlantis", "Amphibian Man", "Struggle on the Air" (magazine version called "Radiopolis"), "Lord of the World". Then he lived and worked in Leningrad, Kiev, Pushkin and even in Murmansk. He was published under the pseudonyms: A. R. B.; Arbel; Nemo; B. R.N.; A. Rom; A. Romanovich; A. Rome.
He died of starvation in the occupied city of Pushkin (former Tsarskoye Selo, a suburb of Leningrad) in 1942. He was buried in a mass grave, the place of burial is not exactly known. Russian Russian Jules Verne is called Belyaev for his outstanding contribution to Russian fiction and visionary ideas, his novels were repeatedly filmed, and the events described in the novels, fantastic at that time, turned into reality.
