The concepts of the unconscious, the interpretation of dreams, the Oedipus complex, and sexuality have been associated with the name of Sigmund Freud in the minds of people for more than a hundred years: Until now, some provisions of his theory are controversial. Nevertheless, few people dispute his role as the father of psychoanalysis and the man who was the first to talk about the role of drives in human life, about the influence of childhood experience on adult life, about the meaning of the unconscious.
Psychoanalysis influenced many areas, including surrealism, which was no less revolutionary in art than psychoanalysis in the life of society. But "over-realism", "over-realism" (from the French surrealisme) attracted people long before Freud and Dali. Back in the XV century, the work of one of the most mysterious artists, Hieronymus Bosch, had a similar attractive force. Sometimes he is called a surrealist of his time, who drew the subjects of his paintings from the depths of the subconscious, just as in the method of free associations a person extracts images and thoughts from there.
The combination of dream and reality, the absurd and the logical, the naturalistic and the symbolic is characteristic of both Freud's theory and Hieronymus Bosch's paintings. Therefore, it seemed interesting to combine these phenomena, spread over the centuries and similar in spirit, in the margins of our publication.
