Matt Groening is an American animator, creator, creative consultant and executive producer of the animated series The Simpsons and Futurama, as well as the creator of the comic strip Life in Hell.
Already at a young age, Groening became interested in writing and illustrating comics. However, then Matt created only ironic notes, which he drew in his spare time from his main job. Groening called them "Living in Hell." It was the plots of "Life in Hell" that formed the basis of Groening's main creation, The Simpsons.
Interestingly, the author didn't have to invent anything — he took the plot, the idea, the images, and even the names from his daily life. Matt Groening's father was Homer, his grandfather was Abe, and his mother was Margaret. Lisa, Maggie and Patty are the names of Groening's sisters. The name of the character Bart, who, by the way, was originally conceived as the main character, is an anagram of the word brat — "brat". Groening copied this image from himself and his brother Mark. It is worth noting that the Simpson family lives on the Evergreen Alley, where Matt Groening himself once lived.
