Stan Lee is an American writer, actor, producer, television presenter, screenwriter, editor and creator of many comic book characters, former president and chairman of the board of directors of Marvel Comics publishing house.
In 1962, Stan introduced Spider-Man to the world. Before the appearance of this character, teenagers in comics were always just assistants to superheroes. The prototype of Spider-Man's friendly neighbor was an ordinary fly on the wall. After the successful launch of the Fantastic Four in 1961, Stan Lee spent the next year thinking about a new bright character. And an ordinary fly that flew into the office helped him in this.
Watching the winged insect crawling along the walls of the office, the comic book legend clearly understood what Marvel needed - a guy who can move on a vertical surface. The first variants of the nickname for the new character were Insect Man, Fly Man and Mosquito Man, until Stan Lee once again realized Spider-Man. After that, he commissioned Steve Ditko to quickly draw a costume design for a teenage hero with spider abilities, and presented it to Marvel CEO Martin Goodman, whose response was: "This is the worst idea I've ever heard." The rest, as they say, is history.
