Initially, Marvel publishers considered the original concept of Spider-Man to be absurd — people hate spiders, teenagers are only good as assistants, and superheroes should not be repulsive. Therefore, in order to find out the reaction of the fan community to the new character, Spider-Man was first shown in the less successful comic book series Amazing Fantasy. The character was well received by fans, and Martin Goodman commissioned Stan Lee to create his own comic book line for the new superhero. Remarkably, in 2021, Amazing Fantasy #15 sold for 3.6 million at a Heritage auction, making it the most expensive comic book in history.
Michael Jackson was also a huge fan of Spider-Man and wanted to try on the image of Spider-Man in the film. He approached Stan Lee several times about buying the film rights. When this approach failed, Michael Jackson decided to acquire the entire Marvel company. However, the parties did not agree on the financial issue. The asking price of $1 billion prevented Michael's dream of making a movie.
