The text of the telegram:
"Moscow Third Miusskaya 4/6 kv 45 Blanter / My son got sick and left Leningrad urgently hello Shostakovich / Moscow. Hotel Moscow No. 315 Dshostakovich".
Dmitry Shostakovich is a Soviet composer, pianist, teacher, People's Artist of the USSR. He is the author of 15 symphonies, 15 quartets, 6 concerts, 3 operas and 3 ballets, as well as numerous works of chamber music for films and theatrical productions.
He wrote his first serious work, The First Symphony, at the age of 20 for his graduate thesis at the Conservatory. The premiere took place in Leningrad in 1926 and then became known outside the USSR. The young man's talent was noticed by the German conductor Bruno Walter and asked Shostakovich to send the score to him in Germany. Soon the work of the Russian composer was performed in Berlin, and it was performed by famous foreign orchestras and artists.
Matvey Blunter is a Soviet composer, People's Artist of the USSR, author of music of famous songs: "Katyusha", "Wait for me", "Enemies burned down their native hut", winner of numerous prizes and awards.
The composers met in 1938, when together they composed a concert program for the USSR State Jazz Orchestra, which performed until the war. It is known that another common hobby contributed to the friendship between Blunter and Shostakovich — both musicians were avid football fans.
