Imperial Porcelain Factory
The Imperial Porcelain Factory is a unique Russian production founded in 1744 in St. Petersburg by the daughter of Peter I, Empress Elizabeth. In her decree, the Empress declared: "For the glory of the All–Russian", which determined the entire further history of the development of the plant - the first in Russia and one of the world's largest enterprises for the production of artistic porcelain products.
For almost three centuries, the history of IFZ has been organically linked with the history of Russia, and its products – artistic porcelain – are represented with their best examples in the collections of the largest museums in the world and in private collections, collectors are fighting for the right to possess it at prestigious international auctions Sotheby's and Christie's. The wide world fame of the plant was brought by hand-made highly artistic painting. A number of products are decorated with natural gold with an engraving pattern. Underglaze paints are used to decorate many sets, vases and almost all animal sculptures.
Products made with saturated cobalt in combination with gold are widely known outside of Russia and are the "business card" of IFZ. The most characteristic distinguishing feature of the legendary brand is that 65% of the full production cycle at the Imperial Porcelain Factory is manual labor, which is successfully combined with modern technologies. This is what ensures the highest quality of products and their uniqueness.
Currently, the plant produces all three main types of porcelain: traditional "hard" (high—temperature), manufactured at IFZ according to the method of its creator Dmitry Vinogradov; "soft" porcelain, the formulation of which was developed at the beginning of the XX century by the famous chemist-technologist N.N. Kachalov, and the "youngest" and innovative – the finest, extremely hard and distinguished by its amazing whiteness bone china, up to 45% consisting of ashes of cattle bones.
Preserving the age-old traditions of the art school, talented craftsmen use special technologies to create sets, exquisite tea and coffee pairs from the finest bone china, sculptures, vases, decorative objects. Currently, the plant's widest assortment, numbering about 4,000 items, is constantly being supplemented with table decor items, glass products, textiles, and other stylized accessories such as umbrellas, shawls, tea and decorative cosmetics.
