Egermann

Egermann company is fully specialized in the production of handmade Bohemian glass and crystal products. The factory in the town of Nizhny Bor in Northern Bohemia was founded in the early 1800s by industrialist Friedrich Egermann. The founder studied the art of painting in the German city of Meissen, then the center of porcelain production. He studied various production processes and learned how to paint on porcelain. After returning to Novy Bor, he focused on painting glass and devoted his time to experimenting with new decorating techniques.
At a time when the whole of Europe was trying to imitate English faceted glass, colored glass was invented at the Egermann factory, which laid down a completely new artistic style. In 1832, Egermann invented the process of "red staining" glass, in which the ruby-red color on the surface of the product is decorated with Baroque patterns using manual cutting and engraving processes. To this day, Egermann remains the world's leading manufacturer of glass products made using the "red staining" technology.
To this day, Egermann brand items are made using traditional Bohemian technologies. Each vase, glass or bowl is a unique product in the tradition of Friedrich Egermann.
