Joseph Stalin was a Soviet politician, statesman, military and party leader of the USSR (1924-1953). Stalin was the de facto founder of the totalitarian dictatorship in the USSR. In 1928-1929, he initiated the transition from the course of the new economic policy (NEP) to the course of industrialization, collectivization and building a planned economy, and activated the policy of the cultural revolution in the USSR.

Ivan Bolshakov was a Soviet statesman, organizer of film production, and director of Soviet cinema from 1939 to 1953. Every Saturday, at exactly 23.00, he had to bring movies to the Kremlin, stay to watch them with Stalin and, if necessary, comment on them. And the need was constant. It was only after watching the film by the Leader that it became clear whether the film would be released to the people or not.

"Cinema is the greatest means of mass agitation. The task is to take this matter into our own hands." J. V. Stalin

After the evening meetings in his office And Stalin often invited those present to watch a movie and then have lunch. He sat in the front row of the cinema hall in the Grand Kremlin Palace with Beria, Molotov and Zhdanov. "What will Comrade Bolshakov show us today?" Stalin asked.

Stalin's favorite film in the pre-war period was Chapaev. According to his instructions, this film was shown at least 38 times in the Kremlin cinema in 1934-1937. The "leader of the peoples" also liked such films as "Maxim's Youth", "Girlfriends", "Chelyuskin", "Pilots" and others. Stalin and his entourage loved the film "Funny Guys" very much.

The author of the book, signed by I.V. Stalin, Kliment Voroshilov, is a Soviet military commander, one of the first marshals of the Soviet Union.

K.E.Voroshilov's article "Stalin and the Red Army" was first written and published in 1929 to mark the 50th anniversary of Stalin's birth. In it, Voroshilov laid the foundation for the legend of Stalin as the main commander of the civil war. The essay was later released as a separate brochure.

The book also contains two stamps belonging to this copy of the book: "Library of V. Stalin".

The exhibit is accompanied by an expert opinion from the Russian State Library.
